Here's
a list of all the bad bits that need fixing...
- Front
left Portal hub, the top gear within the hub doesn't mesh
with the drive shaft.
- Front
left hub could use new bearings (I'd replace all bearings
in both front hubs).
- Oil
seals in front hubs are perished and need replacing.
- Compressor
needs new gasket set (it's leaking oil).
- Bonet
has a small crack, easily fixed as it's fibre-glass.
- Some
bubbling paint on cab. A little under windscreen and a some
in front of passenger door.
- Needs
new de-mister motor for the cab.
Here's
a list of jobs I'd do before I took off on another trip...
- Change
engine coolant.
- Possibly
change all gear oils.
- Change
fuel filters and clean sediment from bottom of fuel tank.
- Service
the Eberspacher diesel heater.
- Take
out the current 5kva generator. It's redundant because everything's
12v and runs off batteries. Possibly carry a small 1kva
Honda generator (for Callys hair straghtners) and use the
remaining locker space for a workshop/tools.
- Fit
sand mats and a high lift jack to the sides.
- Have
the steering pump checked/serviced. I'm sure the steering
is slightly heavier than it used to be.
One
other thing I would think about is a complete body respray.
That's only because the dark colour gets pretty hot during
the summer. I think a lighter colour would keep the outside
surface temperature much lower.
If
I think of anything else I'll add it to the list.
