Here's a list of all the bad bits that need fixing...

  1. Front left Portal hub, the top gear within the hub doesn't mesh with the drive shaft.
  2. Front left hub could use new bearings (I'd replace all bearings in both front hubs).
  3. Oil seals in front hubs are perished and need replacing.
  4. Compressor needs new gasket set (it's leaking oil).
  5. Bonet has a small crack, easily fixed as it's fibre-glass.
  6. Some bubbling paint on cab. A little under windscreen and a some in front of passenger door.
  7. Needs new de-mister motor for the cab.

Here's a list of jobs I'd do before I took off on another trip...

  1. Change engine coolant.
  2. Possibly change all gear oils.
  3. Change fuel filters and clean sediment from bottom of fuel tank.
  4. Service the Eberspacher diesel heater.
  5. Take out the current 5kva generator. It's redundant because everything's 12v and runs off batteries. Possibly carry a small 1kva Honda generator (for Callys hair straghtners) and use the remaining locker space for a workshop/tools.
  6. Fit sand mats and a high lift jack to the sides.
  7. Have the steering pump checked/serviced. I'm sure the steering is slightly heavier than it used to be.

One other thing I would think about is a complete body respray. That's only because the dark colour gets pretty hot during the summer. I think a lighter colour would keep the outside surface temperature much lower.

If I think of anything else I'll add it to the list.
