I don't like having rust on my vehicles and Unimogs are made out of that rusting material; Metal. Generally speaking our Unimog is in excellent condition with just one or two niggling little bits that need a bit of attention. The worst of them are the front mud guards so I decided to take them them off and sort them out.

First of all I ground of the old rusty surfaces and took the old paint back. Where the rubber flap attaches to the bottom it had rusted through so this needed reinforcing before re-spraying. I used sheet aluminium cut to size, Sikaflexed and riveted to each side. Next I used a rubberized stone chip paint to seal the underside and black Hamarite to finish the top.
