For
many months Cally had been worrying about what we were going to do for
stepping up to the back door. Whilst working on converting the back
I'd improvised with a set of decorators aluminium step ladders. Our
most important prerequisite was to have a permanent solution that we
could easily climb the 5½ft into the box and that Molly can get
up. This meant that we would need a set of stairs/steps rather than
what is commonly used; a fitted ladder.
Lucky
for us we knew a handy old boy of a fabricator called Dave who offered
to help make our steps. The next hurdle was to pin him down for a day
so we could get the work done. When that day arrived, Dave done a bit
of thinking, head scratching and some cigarettes smoking and figured
out how to make the best set of steps I've ever seen. It basically involved
cutting out 3mm aluminium sheet, folding the pieces in the right places
and then bolting it all together.
Here's
Daves handy work...
